We paddle through a very narrow twisty and turny cypress swamp with abundant beautiful freshwater aquatic plants. You will see plenty of wildlife such as deer, hogs, turkey, limpkins, turtles, alligators, and much more!
The Hog Island area is named after a nearby uninhabited island formed by two branches of the Withlacoochee River that diverge and meet again. It is only accessible by kayak or small boats.
The Withlacoochee River is designated as an Outstanding Florida Waterway as it meanders through the Withlacoochee State Forest.
This tour is truly one of the wildest and primitive kayak adventures we offer! You feel a million miles away from anywhere!
After our paddle, if you are looking for more to do, there is a 1.6-mile loop nature trail that begins near the entrance of Hog Island Campground. Look for the trail kiosk along the east side of the entrance road. Benches are provided at various spots along the trail, making for a leisurely one-hour stroll with the family.
