Mangrove Trails Kayak Exploration
( Tarpon Springs )
Nothing is more exciting than twisting through the narrow mangrove trails at Fred Howard State Park!!! This is truly a one of a kind Adventure as you explore the mangroves and try to figure out how to wind your way through the mangrove roots without getting lost! But no worries because this is a guided tour and we know the way!
There is certainly a lot of suspense and surprises to see as we make our way out to where it opens up into the Gulf of Mexico! Then we paddle into Lake Avoca, a lake hidden away from all but a few where we will see and learn about lots of wildlife such as fish, birds, crabs, dolphins and much more! There is an abundance of aquatic plants and healthy seagrass beds where schools of mullet thrive and jump around.
We return through a different series of mangrove trails back to our launch site to finish off this mysterious exploration! For those who have never paddled through a mangrove trail it will be an exciting new experience.
This is a great park to check out after our mangrove trails adventure. Picnic tables to eat lunch, playground, hiking trails and a dock to look out over the bay. There are restrooms near the kayak launch site. No entrance fee required.
