One of the best ways to observe and get close to manatees is by kayaking with them!
On this one of a kind tour we take you kayaking on the Chassahowitzka River to see manatees! We focus our attention on the manatees that call this river home in the winter time! The best time to see them is when it is cold but it is well worth the sacrifice. So dress warm, bring some hot cocoa or coffee and be ready for an amazing experience seeing and learning about manatees!!!
We educate you about the river’s history, ecology, springs and characteristics of a manatee! You get an up close and personal look without interfering with their natural behavior. This is not a swimming tour.
If you are looking for more to do after this kayak adventure we highly recommend checking out our Gulf Discovery Cruise or Sunset Dolphin Cruise because after you learn about the river and springs it’s really neat to observe the transition in the ecosystem as we take a boat ride all the way out to the Gulf Of Mexico and barrier islands! Then you will have seen it all while you’r here and understand exactly while we’re called The Nature Coast!!!

Kayaking with Manatees in Florida
Kayaking with Manatees in Florida, is an experience you’ll never forget! These gentle giants are amazing to see up close, and kayaking is the perfect way to do it. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your kayaking with manatees adventure.
1. Dress for success. Wearing a life jacket is always a good idea when kayaking, but it’s even more important when you’re around manatees. These massive creatures can easily swamp a kayak, so being prepared is key.
2. Stay in shallow water. Manatees are most often found in shallow, coastal waters. When kayaking with manatees, stick to areas that are no more than six feet deep. This will help you avoid accidentally getting too close to a manatee and disturbing its natural habitat.
3. Be respectful. Remember, you are a guest in the manatees’ home. Kayak quietly and avoid sudden movements or loud noises that could startle them. And never touch or attempt to ride a manatee – it’s against the law!
4. Get a guide. Kayaking with manatees is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so make sure you do it right. Hire a local guide who knows the area and can help you spot manatees while keeping you safe.
